BEWARE OF A GOSSIPING TONGUE AND A CRITICAL SPIRIT”

Aug. 6, 2005

(I believe that this issue at hand as spoken by our Lord, is one that is a serious thing. We are told that we are to be aware of falsehood in the body of Christ, but at the same time, we are to be very careful and not to stir up dissension nor to gossip about others. I truly believe that this is one of the most important issues at hand, and it is something that the enemy loves to see, and it then can be become a weapon of his to use in splitting apart members within the body of Christ. Let us take these charges and seek Him for discernment about these things.)

A perverse man stirs up dissension, and a gossip separates close friends. Proverbs 16:28

For I am afraid that when I come I may not find you as I want you to be, and you may not find me as you want me to be. I fear that there may be quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, factions, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder. 2 Cor. 12:20

Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt[a] water flow from the same spring? My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water. James 3:10-12

I tell you there is a great issue at hand in the body of Christ. I tell you that the issue at hand involves a gossiping tongue. There are some in the body of Christ who have sought to destroy others through this. This is a serious thing. For I tell you that it has caused division. I hate these things. You don’t know another man’s heart or his intentions. We all fall short of the glory of God. Beware of a critical spirit. Beware of those who would sniff out sin. For they look at the sin of others and not their own. Consider these things at hand and take them before my throne. Does both clean water and brackish water come from the same well? Even so, should two forms of speech come from the same tongue? The enemy loves when others have been divided; for he laughs at these things. Be pure at heart. Look for the best things in others. For then when you do these things you won’t have a critical spirit. “
