The raid in North Baghdad last week killed more than the US media is reporting. American witnesses at the scene have seen truckloads of bodies being carried away, many women and Children. How many dead? There is no exact number but 30+ is not an unreasonable figure. Do you wonder why we had the latest media blitz over the air raid, billed as the largest air operation since the beginning of the war was more a media event than a reality? One word. Distraction. The US committed a bona-fide War Crime and wanted to divert attention from this horrendous act.
American troops are deserting in high numbers among active duty troops you have over 10,000 desertions (more than reported mainstream press). In the national Guard 35,000 won't go to Iraq and have refused orders to deploy. Unit commanders of Active duty forces are encouraging their troops to feigning illness and destroy or disable key equipment to prevent deployments. Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld are destroying the US military. Parts that are needed for tanks and other weapons systems are being dumped into the nearest river or lake by the troops so they do not have to deploy back to Iraq. Why have you not heard these things? They are being closely held by our leadership because their revelation would send Bush's poll numbers even lower. What you are seeing is a slow but sure mutiny of the US military. Some of the things I have heard from our military personnel would stand the hairs up on your heads. Sadly, I am not at liberty to relay them to you.
Even now the Bush administration is moving troops and intelligence personnel around to support an invasion of Iran. There has been some resistance to this yet the die is cast and it looks like America is going to commit another International War Crime in the form of military aggression, target Iran. I do not see any way of stopping this. Nukes are not really the issue. It seems that even if they were the main issue, one could hardly blame Iran for wanting them. Look at a map, there is war on their western frontier started by the US; war to the north, started by the US and the rhetoric in the US has been consistently anti-Iran for decades. Let us never ever forget that it was the US and its inane policies that created the events that brought the present Islamic theocracy to power in the first place. Put yourself in their shoes. The US wants to be the global dictator and decide who rules where, who gets to have what weapons and in what quantity and who they can buy them from. They want to overthrow elected governments and launch attacks against anyone, anywhere for just about any reason based on the whims of an irrational administration. While I do not relish the thought of a nuclear armed Iran, I can understand their desire to build them. If the lunatics and crazies in America can have them, why can't Iran?
When will this Congress and Senate Impeach this President for his woeful mismanagement, his dreadful lying before the American people and its Houses of Representatives and his willful disdain for its constitution and traditions? I do not see much hope despite poll numbers that are increasingly supportive of this. The reason? The Democrats are wimps and the GOP are scared. Money is still being allocated for war by the GOP and the Democrats but who knows where it is really going. The troops are tired, harangued and increasingly frustrated with US leadership and an Iraqi populace that is turning against them. Torture continues and the Iraqi's have had enough. Better Saddam than what America has brought them, and Saddam was pretty bad.
I do not know what to expect in the months ahead as things are so fluid, but look for alliances against the US to solidify. Look for instability in any Arab nation that supports an American invasion of Iran. Watch Russia and China in particular, each is waiting for the inevitable decline of American military and economic power.
